Boat Review 38 Californian LRC vs 42 Californian LRC

I am in the market for a used Californian.
Can't decide betweet the 38 LRC and 42 LRC.

Space on either would be fine for my family and usage.

Like the lower boat price and lower slip fee aspect and think it will be eaiser to find a local slip for the 38...and believe it will be eaiser to single hand the 38.

Concerned with how the 38 will handle vs the 42 especially in a following sea and in close quarters.
Which would be the easiest to learn how to operate? Have owned a 23 and 28 ft sportsfisher...so this is a big move up for me.

Can anyone give me some tips on which they think is the better overall model when it comes to seaworthyness?

Depending on how the boats are fitted out,one may be more economical to operate that the other, thus offsetting some other costs like insurance and slip fees.Unless you are planning to leave her docked, and use her like a beach house,you need to seriously look at how much running costs will be.That will be a big factor in how much/often you take her out.It's been a big factor in me deciding to go with a single I/O trailer trawler under 30'x8'6",for the lack of a better term.

Very similar boats overall. Depends on your needs and cruising style and the size and operation of the engines. I'll send you a private message as well.

Will most likley be using for condo on the water..with a couple of trips to catalina maybe 4 times a year..and some local fishing...so operating cost not a huge concern.

think I am leaning towards the 38 as less cost to buy and slip.
Just wanted to make sure I wasent giving up a better more seaworthy boat ie the 38 vs the 42.
