She has spoken with Dave Harris, owner of Moondance, the vessel which capsized and sank in the Tenn-Tom Waterway on September 30, 2011. The incident is the focus of an ongoing investigation and Mr. Harris has been advised not to discuss it, however, he did make it clear he will give us all the details once the investigation is complete. In the meantime, it could be detrimental for people to speculate on what happened.
Mr. Harris stated he has been cruising the Tenn-Tom for several years and feels it is, for the most part, a very safe area. He said his situation was a "special circumstance" and that Loopers should not feel overly concerned about cruising in this area. He did stress that it is of the utmost importance to pay attention to your surroundings and obey all the "Rules of the Road."
The vessel has been raised and presents no obstacle to anyone cruising the Tenn-Tom.
As soon as we have all the facts, we will pass them along to our members.
Safe cruising,
