Welcome all, just purchased a 1971 Grand Banks 36, jumping in at the deep end. The boat is an estate sale which has been stored on land for the last six months, sadly the last owner passed away suddenly. This is my first power boat, Ive always been a sticks and rags man, Ive a feeling its going to be a its pretty sharp learning curve.
As far as I can determine the boat has been boathouse kept and has been cosmetically maintained unfortunately the fabric maintenance has been lacking, the windows leak terribly and the old teak decks need significant attention.
We are planning to launch on Monday and am expecting it to take a while for the hull to take up after being stored over the summer. Ive got two oversized bilge pumps ready, Im also going to replace the batteries which are reportedly not holding charge. I want to change the fliters.
The boat is in Everett at the moment but will be moved to Ladysmith, BC
If anyone has any other points that I should look out for don't hesitate to let me know.
