I recently purchased a used M/V with a Lewmar V2 windlass with a 002 gypsy. The previous owner never anchored out. I have been anchoring out a lot and the nylon rope is being damaged. It's 3 strand, 200' with 20' of HT4 chain. The chain part works great. I measured the line approximately .70". The manual suggest 1/2". I suspect that the line maybe to large. But wanted to be sure before I invest in New ground tackle. Thinging of 100' of chain and 150' of nylon rope. BTW the vessel is a 2009 Sabre 38' HT Express.

Thanks for any help.

My MS 34HT came w/ a Lewmar V2 and 001 Gypsy. Originally it only had 15 ft of chain & 150 ft of 5/8" nylon 8 plait. I just added 50' of chain as I intend to anchor more this season.
If you check the Lewmar website for both the 001 & 002 gypsies they recommend 1/2 - 5/8 3 strand or 5/8 8 plait for rode.
I think there are some advantages to 8 plait and you might consider it if you are planning on replacing. I'd do a little research / reading about 8 plait for anchor rode.
