CAV filter designed to fail

Went into the ER an hour ago and looked at the CAV filter for the genset, which is on the opposite side of the boat mounted under the fuel tank, and noticed a steady drip.

Shut off fuel, found the filter wobbly so pulled it apart, changed the filter and reassembled and was appalled at how dodgy it seemed, single bolt and bottom loading filters and due to where it is located, more diesel spilt.

Good news is, didn't need to bleed system and no leaks but that's the last filter I have and won't buy another.
One of my spare 500fg will be going in next time at a better, easily accessed location.
