That hole where Walt's imagination is and where my original helm location was is scheduled for an upgrade. Planed to cover that whole area w teak boards that I already have but there's always something more important to do. AND I like the light cream plastic area bringing contrast to all the other teak. So I'll prolly cover up the hole only with ........something.

Don't entertain Walt's imagination, Eric (although if it was me, I'd be pointing out the size of the hole). *About the seat, there's just some things about a seat that makes it right. *When it's right, don't fool with it. *Those 2X4s could be elegantly finished with brass ends affixed.
