I have a 32 IG and wondering if anyone has ever changed the original brass strips to another material or style ... or if they’ve ever cleaned or polished the brass and How they did it ... I’ve looked up stainless half rounds but the prices are ridiculous around 40$ per foot..

ARe they Brass or Bronze? You can clean bronze with a mixture of baking soda and lemon juice mixed into a paste.

A mixture of flour, salt and vinegar will also work.

I've used oxalic acid (Barkeepers Friend or Mary & Kate On-and-Off Hull Cleaner) on bronze seastrainer covers with success. This requires more precautions and heavy chemical resistant gloves).

I use Blue Magic metal polish on my s/s. It works very well. It says all metals so it may work on your bronze, but I have not tried it on bronze. Got it on Amazon.
