Puget Sound boating. Who says I’m slow?

So on the way from Gig Harbor to the TYC Outstation in Wollochet Bay we were making 12.1 knots (my camera missed it when it was 12.2) burning just 2.0 gph. Not bad efficiency for my North Pacific 43. ;-)

Don't you just love it, last year coming home from Gibsons as we got to Porlier Pass we did 12.6 SOG and it carried a lot of it 1/4 of the way to Montague not bad for a old PT38 with a 135hp Perkins........

When we were taking our boat down to Portland a couple of weeks ago we were running at 1100rpm's and doing about 12.2kts. We got into the area between Hood River and Bridge of the Gods where Thirteen mile point is. The river narrows from about 3/4 mile down to 1/3 mile right there.


Our speed picked up from the 12.2kts to 16.4kts. Loved it.

I get between 4 and 9 knots (between slow and slower) at the same RPM/fuel-consumption-per-hour in the Carquinez Strait.
