I have a twin engine 1979 marine trader 44. Has anyone with one of these boats removed the stuffing box to replace the cutlass bearing in the stuffing box?

The access hatches in the aft cabin provide tight access to the front of the box but no access to the back side of the beam the stuffing box bolts to.

I can’t tell if the box is through bolted or if it’s a hanger bolt with a lag bolt on one side.

If it’s through bolted, how do you replace the bolts with no access to the back side?

Any guidance on this is appreciated.

Mine were done a couple of years ago. I didn't get to see how they were attached, but I did hear about the problems getting access to the back sides of the struts, so had there been any issue getting access, this is when I would have heard all about it. I presume, therefore, that what you can see is all there is to release the stuffing boxes.
