I have no down helm on my boat as we wanted a dinette where the down helm would reside. Result, all my electronic toys are on the fly bridge. All information on the MFD is relayed to an old iPad in the salon. (Bluetooth) All guests can monitor the progress of the cruise (Charts, course, time to go, etc.) on the iPad. I'm also adding a simple bracket in the cockpit which will hold the iPad (tuned to CHIRP Down Vision) so that the anglers can survey the bottom while we're trolling.
So much for not having a down helm.
In the photo, Batt 1 is the house bank & Batt 2 is the engine start bank. The Raymarine MFD doesn't allow me to label them as such. The Maretron DSM150 (Brain) does allow me to label extensively and has a lot of SOC info that the Raymarine MFD won't display. When one considers the portability of the iPad, the possibilities are endless as to where this salon info can be displayed. Salon, cockpit, staterooms, etc.
