We are contemplating adding davits or a hoist for our dinghy. I believe adding the davits off the stern would be the most economical but always liked the idea of having the dinghy hoist and placing her on the hard shell. We have an 11' dinghy with a 9.9 hp outboard (both totaling around 250lbs). The idea of placing a pole through the shell and then into the deck concerns me though. Any ideas? Any recommendations of an installer in the Tampa area would be appreciated.

Take a look at different manufacturers offerings for dinghy cranes. Contact the manufacturers you like, to see if they have authorized installers in your area. This is one of those items that I would want to get references with installation pictures before making any kind of commitment.
