Better internet antennas in 2017?

Kymeta wows Monaco Yacht Show with flat antennas

Kymeta looks like it is developing a solution that will be ready when I get to go on the water (just dreaming at this point). Interested in any stories about Kymeta or any alternate satellite internet solutions.

I currently live in a log house in a hilly area, so my only internet connection at home is a satellite dish (Xplornet). So if I can get this level of connectivity on a mobile platform, I will happily move my home office onboard and go exploring.

Kymeta only makes antennas, they are not a service provider. Their plan is to eventually have a reasonably priced flat panel antenna, but they still have a long way to go. The emerging market that might give them the production volume to drive the prices down is self driving automobiles. Software updates are so critical, that a satellite based delivery system might be needed along with a cellular data delivery. I suspect that a self driving car may not be self driving if it hasn't verified currency of software at least once a day.

The Panasonic satellite network was mentioned and I am unaware of Panasonic offering satellite internet in the US or at least to the East Coast. The only three providers I have heard of is Hughes Net, Exede and Dish. Does Panasonic serve other areas on the world with satellite internet?

Panasonic specializes in mainly the aircraft market (Panasonic Avionics). You are correct on the Hughes/Exede. DISH's service is call DISHnet and it is their branding of either the Hughes or Exede products depending on where it is installed.
