Lookin' for a lifting sling for an air-cooled Honda 2.3 hp outboard motor. Not all that heavy but it is difficult gettin' it down from the sundeck to the swim step. So far all the slings I have found state, "not for air-cooled engines."

They don't want to be liable for the heat of the engine melting the sling that has been left in place during operation. If you aren't worried about scratching up the engine, you could rig up a bridle make from stainless cable.

Edit: Sorry, recent talk of liability influenced my response. They don't want their product to melt.

I made one years ago for my Watercooled 2 hp. None of the strapping gets anywhere near anything hot. A loop in the front, and a strap back to the cover hold-down. Just grab and lift. Slips on and off with modest effort as I made it to fit snuggly. Style may or may not work for the newer units..
