What are spud poles?

A spud is a vertical piling that can be dropped down to hold on the bottom and anchor the vessel in location. It only works well in sand or mud bottoms in shallow water.

The components of a spud system are a spud pole, which is usually a thick wall steel pipe up to 30’ long, a spud well which is a larger pipe fixed on the vessel running from the bottom to above deck through which the spud can be dropped and a spud winch for raising and lowering a spud.

Most often seen as a pair of spuds, one forward and one aft on barges and flat bottomed shallow water craft. Also found on dredges to hold in position without the use of anchor spreads.

That is a beautiful Engine room, I could not see any SPUD POLES ....I figured you could see some sign of them somewhere above deck...

You might want to look into a Mobotix Q26 hemispherical camera for the ER since you can look in all directions with no moving parts. Also, it is low height and won't add much to bump your head as a typical dome camera would.
