Indmar Engines?

Looking at a 27 ft Cape Dory that has an Indmar Marine three hundred fifty HP gas engine. I know they are in business with Ford, but little else. My concerns are, is this too big an engine for this size boat and does anybody have experience with this engine?

Heard consistently the Idmar engine is fine.

That size is fine if you run it semi-displacement every once and awhile.

Agree wit PSN. Indmar is the go to engine for many ski boats. Suggest you contact an Indmar dealer to assess normal parts availability. Is the engine cooled with a HX vs pulling in raw water. For fresh water lakes, raw water is OK but not in salt water.

What CID? I had a 454 350 HP in a 24 footer. Enjoyed the low RPM power.

Thats probably its SAE ,hp rating l for 10 seconds on a dyno pull.


Probably can make 75 to 100HP longer term just fine , and will have fewer problems than a diesel if used at 20 HP as a cruiser.
