In the process of buying a 1978 Marine Trader 36 Sedan Trawler. The holding tank, which I believe is original, is under the forward cabin soul. No information on the capacity. Does anyone know what this may be?
We have a 1978 MT 36 and yes it is/was under the floor of the vee berth. We removed it last year. What a mess. It was made of glassed over plywood. About 1/3 of it had rotted away. Ours had not been used in years. I read in an old survey of the boat that it held 25 gallons and that seems about right from the physical size.
If yours is still in use I would move new holding tank high up on the priority list.
Thanks for the info ready2go. Decided to walk away after seeing more rot under lower helm station deck. Knew there was problems around the side window and front of the door but hadn't been in position to see under before. Also, the engine transmitted more vibration than I'd like even for a diesel. Could be an indication of soft stringers or not.
