I'm doing some retirement planning, and wondering how much I should budget for an East Coast slip for a 42' trawler in the winter months. Are there places you can get a slip+electric for $300 to $400 per month, or am I going to end up out on a mooring ball? I would be interested in anything between Key West and Morehead City.

There must be 100s of marinas in that stretch of the East Coast that would charge under $400 including electric even if living aboard. I can think of 2-3 in Oriental, NC where I live that would.

Interestingly the closer you get to Miami the higher the basic slip price will be but electricity will be minimal. Further north power becomes a bigger factor- at least $100/mo for liveaboard use in our area.

Look near Stuart Florida. It might be in the sweet spot.
