kelp protection for stabilizer fin shafts

Perhaps this has been discussed before but I haven't seen the thread:

Looking for best way to protect stabilizer fins from kelp and crab pot lines. I've seen inverted "shark fins," a concave shaped cutting blade, and a built-up appendage on the hull forward of the fin to deflect kelp. Any thoughts on what works best?

Couldn't tell you if it does,we don't have kelp on this coast. Never have ran over a crab pot either.

Mr. 4'. "Never have ran over a crab pot either." That you're AWARE of. On one occasion of having our hull scraped by a diver he removed about a 2' section, of what I suspect as being crab trap line, from around our prop.

I see how that shape would work to allow pot lines and kelp to slide off the fin. But it seems like you would have to make the fins quiet a bit larger to compensate for their shape in order for them to as effective as the traditional fin shape is.
