Hello,

We are making plans for our long summer cruises and considering buying an ice maker for our Grand Banks 36. Thinking about a counter top model but know nothing about them. Does anyone use one of these, what do you use, are they plumbed into a water line or manual fill? We have plenty of inverter power to use, plan to use the make while underway or on shore power.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Well, finally got a search to work and got some info.

Lots of models to choose from.

if you chose a model that is plumbed into your water system, then you probably need a pressure reducer.
An accumulator in your water pressure system would also be good since it prevents the water pump from running each time the ice maker fills up - not very often, but still annoying if it happens in the middle of the quiet night.

The pressure accumulator is a good thought. It looks like we are going to try just using our 12volt Engle freezer this season to make our ice cubes. We have an Adler Barbour fridge that is running strong so we can use the freezer more effectively. We'll see after this season.
