Another option to get completely full, and as suggested above, to go to the fuel dock when not busy, and have them hose both sides of the boat at the same time, to take the crossover out of the scenerio. I personally have no reason to have 170 vs 175 gallons overall. Fuel dock is very convenient.

David, When we had our 43' Bluesea, we cruised at 9 knots, and towed a 13' whaler with a 30 honda behind us, 2nd wave. The whaler was up on full plane, and the boat didn't know it was back there. Speed would remain the same weather we were towing or not.

How do you heat water and use appliances without the generator? Assuming you are not carrying ton's of LI batteries? What about cloudy day's? I have solar, and a portable genny, cloudy day's does not support my Load needs from Solar, thus the portable genny.

I used the same pump. I keep one for pulling excess bilge water out, below the bilge capabilities,and one for transfering fuel to the dingy and generator. 2 D Batteries lasts a couple of months with frequent use.

Wilmington/San Pedro area has plenty of slips available for live aboards, however also has a reputation for a place where boats and captains go to die. Reality is if you can find a workable fixer that is livable, and put it in that area, which can be sketchy, you can live pretty damn cheaply...
