    Water in bilge

Yup, I've also fixed a dripping showerhead and a leaking copper water line coming out of the hot water heater.

    Water in bilge

My shaft packing wasn't leaking or dripping either, I finally traced the water coming in from under where my muffler was mounted. What was leaking was into the concrete filled keel and that is where it found its way into bilge. I would have been completely content if my pump only came on 3 times...

    Water in bilge

I am in the middle of replacing my shaft tube and components. I had water coming up through my keel/bilge floor. There was a hole in the inner support and in the shaft tube itself. Some pictures here https://www.trawlerforum.com/threads/suggestions-needed-for-removal.71727/ I also had a water...

Lifepo4 house / lead starting bank interaction?

Is your concern about running down your start battery with the Dc 2 Dc charger while the boat is not running? Pretty sure you can run the dc2dc charger to only charge when the boat is running so your start battery stays isolated.

You may want to evaluate if you have enough airflow around your fridge once you pull it out for cleaning.

rudder question (marine trader 40 sundeck)

If you are looking to disconnect your rudder from the steering it would be the two bolts on either side of the top of the squared rudder post.

    Suggestions needed for removal

It was quite the relief to get it removed, there were many times laying in bed at night wondering how to go about it and what my options would be, Now just to figure out my replacement options. The beer is tasting exceptionally good tonight 😀

It is a slide hammer marketed for doing automotive bodywork, I did need to modify one of the attachments to be able to fit inside of the tube and pull against the through bolt. I used the slide hammer for a few pulls then used a pipe wrench to rotate the tube then repeat many times. It was...

Maybe need to solder the wire on pointed end or use a mini spade connector. Since no luck contacting Simrad directly you could reach to a marine electronics supplier that deals in Simrad. Good luck!!

    Shaft packing access

I do have one friend in the yard and we are the only two working here almost every weekend over the winters. We always check in with each other when we arrive and before we leave. I will not crawl down there again without my phone in reach.

Yes the stainless tube was threaded into the back of the bronze piece in the picture, the rubbing/wear on the bronze piece also carried into and through the threaded end of the tube itself. Being that there was that damage I didn't want to worry about possibly unseen corrosion.

    Suggestions needed for removal

Sean I'd be afraid of pulling it off the stands running from it with a forklift. I think the slide hammer maybe could work just because I was able to get it that far just hitting it with a standard claw hammer with limited swinging room. I'd hate to have to cut out my cabin floor to bust up the...

I've seen that done via YouTube, that looked daunting. I'll get back up there this weekend and start pulling again, I've also wondering if I can't get it removed about the possibility of running a new tube inside the old one.
