    heat ex changer flush question

My main thought is we are able to use the boat in the summer since we travel in the motorhome and also have a home in palm springs for the winter cold months. Our boat can sit for several months without running. I dont think i will flush after every run during the summer but if i am figuring on...

    Suggestions needed for removal

try to get the threads cleaned up with a all thread up the center then rent a hollow core hydraulic cylinder to pull it out. It will come out more smoothly with a cylinder. You could also use the same method with the threaded rod going the length of the tube with a plug on the inside of the...

Question on enlarging a drill hole

The reamers i use are only tapered art way so you start the hole with the tip of the reamer and the flutts on the reamer go straight a third of the way up cutting a straight hole.

Question on enlarging a drill hole

Another idea that just came to me that we use is to drill the desired hole size in a piece of 1 inch stock and place the jig over the hole you want cleaned up. You need to clamp or get a helper and to make sure it dosnt move. Once in place run the same drill bit through your jig advancing in...

Question on enlarging a drill hole

The reamers are usually fairly long. Sometimes we will drill a small hole then we can use the reamer to get any angle we want. Straight i easy since there is enough bit exposed to verify its at 90 degrees. Most reamers are made for steel but they work fine in wood. Step bits are sort of a poor...

Question on enlarging a drill hole

I use a tapered reamer if i need a larger hole in something.trying to enlarge a hole cleanly is a challenge once drilled. The reamer makes quick and clean work of it.

    Dumb Newb Questions

when i started playing with boats in the 70s things didnt seem that expensive and perhaps i was just to young but fast forward to today and just a couple dock lines can cost a couple hundred bucks. It seems like something is ordered for the boat every couple of weeks and i have a boat thats only...

    heat ex changer flush question

I had to open the charge air inlet end to remove a zinc that came loose. The design puzzles me. There seems to be divider between the upper half. I would think that would allow water to flow through the upper half and not so much on the lower half. Am i missing something?

    Is Autopilot Necessary In PNW?

We are just finishing up our rv travels for the winter and heading back to seattle. The wife commented about how much more relaxing traveling in the boat vs the rv. She was referring to letting the boat follow a plotted course while we just enjoy the view. I see the boat constantly making...

Owning a 40 foot trawler with no generator?

I would think the high load items as in ac,hot water and microwave and cooking loads would have to be looked at. I would definitely have some form of emergency power as previously posted.

Mine have separate battery back and are 21 volt. They use a lot of juice so you dont get much time. If you using the house bank and using the thrusters on the heavy side you may be draining the house bank causing you the other problems.
