Used Captains varnish since totally refinishing our teak 12+ years ago. Easy to apply (I use mainly cheap, throwaway brushes). Stands up well in our conditions in BC. Sand lightly and redcoat every two years or so when the boat is kept outside. In recent years we have had a boat shed so it is stored out of the weather. Finish does dull somewhat so I touch it up every 3 to 4 years.

If refinishing bare wood, I suggest folling the recommendation on the can to thin the first coat with 333 brushing liquid. I have ttied with and without and with is definitely better. Even a second or third coat with the diluted finsh before building heavier layers works well.

When I've done raw teak, I used several coats of West System (105 Resin with 207 Special Clear Hardener). This fills and lays down the first few building layers. This also reduces the number of varnish coats you need to do. Sand between coats of epoxy.

Then start using the Captains Varnish 1015. Again, sanding between coats. I used cheap chip brushes for the epoxy. Foam for the varnish, and a really nice brush for the final coat of varnish.
