You can use any good quality non hardening thread sealant, under no circumstance use teflon tape.

Have you considered a cast stainless steel mixing elbow from HDI Marine? My experience with light gauge stainless elbows has not been good, very expensive and unacceptable lifespan due to fatigue / stress cracking.
