    Wanted: EZ Docker Hook

If all else fails you can make one out of copper tubing and fittings. That is what I did.

Repair westerbeke or replace and with what?

My Westerbeke 8KW died last year. The engine ran great but there was only about 12V output. The problem was one of the diodes that are internal to the windings failed. The only fix was to rewind the field coils. (Poor design in my estimation) I had a rebuilt generator (not the engine) put...

    Cabbage Island, BC NEXUS

Steve, Thanks for the info on Cabbage Island. Looks like an interesting place to check out in settled weather. My charts seem to indicate the access from the south is restricted due to Orcas. The CBSA has a good site for locating NEXUS/Marine check in points. There is filter box to restrict...

    Cabbage Island, BC NEXUS

Hi Ken CBSA lists Cabbage Island, which has no dock facilities as near as I can tell. Also with the restricted boating areas on the south side it looks tickl-ish to get into. There are buoys there I understand. Miners Bay looks interesting.

    Cabbage Island, BC NEXUS

Has anybody used Cabbage Island off the southeast corner of Saturna as their NEXUS point of entry? It looks like it would be challenging to get into and there doesn’t actually seem to be any marine facilities. But it would be a short hop from Sucia if heading up the strait.

When it is time to cut the anchor chain

I've added a short section of Amsteel line at the bitter end of the anchor chain. Should I have to abandon the anchor it is a "simple" cut from the deck.

Water Auto Fill for Lead Acid Batteries

I also have the manual pump version of the "Water-your-Battery" I see that they do have and automatic version that is less then a couple of hundred dollars. Water your battery link . If your FLA's are good there is no reason to spend money on LifePo4 right now. I'm waiting until it is time to...

Best cellular carrier in the PNW

After many years we switched from Verizon to T Mobile. For the most part it works well for us, but like all services it is the luck of the draw on where their towers are. One side of Echo Bay (Sucia) gets 5G and the other side is no service. Also, voice and data is included in Canada but the...

    Benmar Course Setter 21 autopilot

I had a similar issue and it turned out that one of the IC's had died. I replaced all the IC's and the problem went away. (The IC's were on sockets that made it easy)

    Eberspacher diesel heater repair

This was my problem. Low voltage to the glow plug (mine was a bad connector) will cause white smoke and failure to light. It then shuts down. There was enough voltage when on shore power that it would usually light. Not so much when at anchor.
