    oil

The "CH 4" or higher rating on the oil container is what you need to be concerned with. Shell Rotella or anything similar is fine. https://www.api.org/products-and-services/engine-oil/eolcs-categories-and-classifications/oil-categories#tab-diesel-c-categories

    New MEMBER from Spain

Welcome. Always happy to have another GB owner on board. We sailed around Mallorca last September. Was a nice couple of weeks.

    Auto Pilot

This sounds like an old anolog unit. They have relays in the “brain”. One turns the boat to port the other to starboard. The points in the relays are known to corrode over time. If the points stick the boat will go in circles. Easy for an old school electronics type person to test and repair...

1995 Raymarine autopilot on GB 42

In our 36 the compass is under the forward V berth. Is a door that opens for access.

One more alternator question (F-L 120)...

40 years in and around auto service business. Never heard of a loose belt ruining an alternator. I would tighten the belt and test the charging system / battery as a whole before replacing anything. Maybe something else loose? Connections?

Rigging Mast and Boom on GB32

There is a 4 to 1 block and tackle that runs from the mast head to the outer end of the boom. (2 pulleys with 2 shives on each pulley) Same thing from the outer end of the boom down and is connected to whatever you are lifting. Pretty straight forward. You are handling two lines. One for each...

Rigging Mast and Boom on GB32

The standard mast and boom on your 32 or our 36 is not set up to lift heavy weights. I have no idea what weight it was / is rated for. There is no forestay and as you mentioned the forward shrouds are not solidly anchored to the fly bridge. IMO It might be fine for a small empty dingy without an...

GB 36 propane locker update advice

Ours is under the port sittee on the flybridge. I am happy with the installation and venting as was the surveyor. However the bottom line is you need to satisfy your insurance company. Get an ABYC certified tech to advise you and make the necessary changes to be ABYC compliant. That should...

    Is Autopilot Necessary In PNW?

If it’s an older autopilot it probably has two small relays in the control unit. One relay for port turn and one relay for starboard. The points in the relay are known to get corroded and stick. Therefore the hard turn to one side or the other. I had this exact problem with my Sharp AP. We took...

Day / overnight cruiser - what should I be looking at?

I would want a true Down East cruiser. Especially in your part of the world. A single screw with a keel is nice to have in shallow water. Have you looked at Gray and Gray. Annie Gray will fix you up with something. https://www.grayandgrayyachts.com/

    Fuse identification for Mastervolt inverter?

Thank you. I will have to have a look. Lets see who else responds.

    Fuse identification for Mastervolt inverter?

Interesting. I don't have a spare fuse for my Mastervolt. Where is the fuse located? I would think that any 200 amp fuse that could be properly installed would work?
